Transition effect on a shock-wave/boundary layer interaction

Comparison of experimental and numerical results are performed on two configurations, one at a moderate shock intensity (α = 2.5°) and the other for a strong shock intensity leading to a massive boundary layer separation (α = 5°).

Experimental and numerical Schlieren views and wall temperature distributions along the flate plate are compared for both configurations. Moreover, computations allow to provide in-depth results of the main and fluctuating flowfields and to detect unsteadiness into the viscous interaction and in the separation region.
